His

The young adult journey of being known… what does that even mean? What does that look like? Understanding this is the key to establishing your identity while your entire world is in transition.

So let’s start with the word identity. I believe this topic has been a theme of focus for our entire society the past year. The classification of who you are… Majority of people ask: what’s your background, what are you passions, what are your life goals, who are you in relation with, what are your habits, etc? And while all these elements are true to influencing a person, there is a deeper root to understanding true identity.  And once you can unlock true identity, you open doors to an unknown confidence.

I believe that in order to truly discover and understand your identity, you have to peel back all the wavering things in life and focus on the one truth that changes everything.  To know who you are, you have to know WHOSE you are.  You are always first a child of God. He is your Father.  He knew you before He even created you and said, “You are my beloved. I’m so proud of you.”

Jeremiah 1:5 says, “‘I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”

If we could shift our perspective from striving to reach expectations of man to realizing that we’ve been grafted into an inheritance, it would be a game changer.  You can always be comforted by the fact that your Father constantly knows you and sees you through the good and even in the midst of the mess, and yet faithfully faces you with open arms and love in His eyes.  Just as a child can run up to their parents dirty face and all and still be confident in the fact that their parents will pick them up, ready to embrace them, we can be confident in the same with our Father. He always comes in close, ready to cover you in His love because that’s what His love does. It covers over us entirely and washes us clean.  His love is the only thing that qualifies us.

When we can be grounded in the unshaken truth that we are His, we are His beloved, we are His treasured children, it ripples into how we live out the rest of our lives.  We no longer live in comparison, but instead with a grateful heart and unspeakable joy. We don’t live enslaved to the system of society fighting our best to be accepted, but instead live full in the freedom of a child.  You walk knowing that you’ve been intentionally appointed, you carry the authority that overcame the grave.  Nothing compares to that.

Of course, all of this can seem like a bunch of encouraging words with no weight to it, but the truth is all of this becomes your reality when you encounter the love of the Father.  My heart is for you to experience the love of the Father in a transforming way that places you in a position to seeing yourself rightly. My desire is for you to understand the depth of being valued, pursued, and loved by your Father because ultimately, you are His.
